Sky Sports pundit stunned by ‘unbelievable’ Willy Gnonto after what he saw in Leeds United 2-2 v Man United
Sky Sports pundit Dean Ambrose was left stunned by Wilfried Gnonto’s “unbelievable” strike against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
The Whites, managerless in the lead-up to the Roses derby following Jesse Marsch’s sacking on Monday, took the lead inside a minute after a superb start.
Pascal Struijk wins the ball off Bruno Fernandes and finds Gnonto. The Italian youngster then played a one-two with Patrick Bamford before drilling an absolute thunderbolt into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

And Ambrose, providing coverage on the game for Sky Sports News [8 February, 8:03pm], was left stunned by Italian wonderkid’s strike.
He said: “Fantastic talent. I was going to mention that him and Garnacho, it’s kind of a battle of the prospects. And it’s 1-0 to Gnonto at the moment. What a start from Leeds.
“If you’re playing up front on your own, which [Bamford] is a lot of the time, you need players to run off you and you need a forward to bounce it off. Bamford has a fantastic touch, Leeds have missed him when he’s not playing. He’s shown it here, played a little one-two and Gnonto did the rest. Unbelievable finish.”
What a player
Gnonto’s strike was absolutely unerring, from the moment he received the ball from Struijk, United were in desperate trouble.
The 19-year-old is simply unstoppable when running at defenders, and the Red Devils simply had no answers when he approached the penalty area and unleashed a sizzling effort into the bottom corner.

It’s certainly been a difficult and perilous few weeks for the Whites, lacking the cutting edge in the Premier League, not picking up wins and losing their manager as a result but the performances of this little Italian has certainly kept the mood at Elland Road to hopeful levels.
They are always in with a chance against even the Premier League defences when he’s playing. What a player.
