Sky Sports pundit shares ‘worst possible news’ verdict at Leeds United after what happened v West Ham United

Alan Smith believes Leeds United losing Patrick Bamford to injury would be the “worst possible news” for the club.

The pundit was speaking during the first half of the clash between the Whites and West Ham on Sunday (21 May).

Bamford was quickly replaced by Wilfried Gnonto after struggling with this latest injury at the London Stadium for a few minutes.

“The Leeds staff are just asking Patrick Bamford do go down, it seems like he’s struggling,” Smith said on Sky Sports Main Event (29m30s).

“It would be the worst possible news for Leeds to lose their centre-forward, to lose that focal point.”

Huge blow

Bamford really has been one of the most unfortunate players in the Premier League in recent years when it comes to injuries, with the striker constantly being troubled by various issues.

When fully fit, the forward definitely knows how to find the back of the net, but sadly he just hasn’t been fully fit for quite some time now.

The full extent of this latest injury won’t be clear just yet, but given how he needed to go off shortly after feeling the issue, coupled with the fact he headed straight down the tunnel and into the dressing room at the London Stadium, it is likely that his season is over.

The 29-year-old has failed to land regular playing time for the Whites over the years due to his ongoing problems, which may just have an impact on his future at the club, with a new manager perhaps deciding that enough is enough and that it isn’t worth keeping him at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, one Whites youngster is reportedly going to be watched through the under-20 World Cup by Real Madrid.
