Sky Sports pundit shares Leeds United verdict on Wilfried Gnonto live on air
Sky Sports pundit Sue Smith heaped praise on Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto as a “key” player for the Whites during their 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 02 September.
Daniel Farke’s side were unable to turn their dominance into three points against Wednesday in the Yorkshire derby, failing to convert one of their 15 attempts on goal in the hunt for their second Championship win of the campaign.
Gnonto started on the left of the Leeds’ midfield having remained at Elland Road after a summer of speculation linking him with a move to Everton, including a failed attempt from the Toffees to buy him on deadline day.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (2 September, 16:48) Smith said: “He’s looked good, he looks really lively every time he gets the ball, he wants to beat his man.
“He’s created some opportunities and had a couple of opportunities himself so he’s looked key for Leeds at the moment.”
Key man
Keeping Gnonto at Elland Road this summer was a huge task for everyone involved with Leeds United as he is truly capable of being a difference-maker for Farke’s side in their hunt for a return to the Premier League.
However, the most crucial thing between now and the January transfer window is ensuring that the 19-year-old is happy to be a part of the team with Leeds, as Farke has insisted that he wants a squad of players who have a desire to play for the Whites.

Although Gnonto was unable to have a true impact on the result against Wednesday, he was one of the brightest sparks in the United side, creating the most chances in the match (4) and the most dribbles (6) [WhoScored].
As the season progresses goal involvements and final product will come from the Italian and Leeds’ quality will begin to shine through. Hopefully with the transfer window now closed and speculation over players’ futures ending, everyone at Elland Road can focus on their football.
