Sky Sports pundit says Lundstram is 'perfect example' for 30y/o Leeds reportedly want to sell
Michael Brown has suggested he is not surprised that a report has surfaced that claims Leeds United are looking to sell Barry Douglas in the summer.
Football Insider reported earlier this month that the Whites will listen to offers for the 30-year-old left-back at the end of the season – regardless of whether or not they win promotion from the Championship.
Douglas has struggled for game-time this season, appearing just 13 times in all competitions for the Yorkshire giants and starting only four matches in the league.
Sky Sports pundit Brown, who used to play for Leeds, believes that Douglas’ style of play is not what Bielsa is looking for from his full-backs.
However after seeing John Lundstram return from the fringes at Sheffield United to become a key player in the Premier League, Brown has claimed that there could still be a role to play for Douglas.
“I think it’s been difficult for him because he needs a run of games. For lots of periods of time now we’ve seen Marcelo Bielsa play [Ezgjan] Alioski down the left-hand side, we’ve now seen [Stuart] Dallas come in there now,” he told Football Insider.

“When he’s playing more forward-minded players in those positions, you would say that his style is not suiting Marcelo Bielsa. All you can do as a player there, when you’re not getting in, is train as hard as you can, take on what the manager does and try and work your way back in to the team.
“We’ve seen people many times who have not really played much come back into the team and I think the perfect example of that is John Lundstram at Sheffield United.”
Dallas has been superb for Leeds this season and although there are a couple of real stand-out players at Elland Road, the Northern Ireland international is certainly a contender for the player of the season award at the club.
He has been called on to play almost everywhere by Bielsa and although he had a rough few weeks in the centre of the midfield, he has returned to the left-back spot and played brilliantly.
There is no need to drop Dallas at the moment and as Alioski is a better impact substitute, Douglas may have to hope for injuries or suspensions to win his place back in the side this season as Bielsa is not a fan of chopping and changing his side.
In other Leeds United news, this 26-year-old should silence his doubters this weekend when the Whites face Reading at Elland Road.
