Sky Sports pundit raves about what ‘sensational’ Archie Gray did for Leeds United v Ipswich
Michael Dawson has raved about “sensational” midfielder Archie Gray in the Leeds United game against Ipswich Town on Saturday (26 August).
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday on 26 August (03:19pm), the pundit was impressed by the 17-year-old’s involvement in the Whites’ third goal in the fixture at Portman Road.
The midfielder, who has broken into the first team under Daniel Farke this season, helped set up the move that resulted in new signing Joel Piroe grabbing a debut goal for Leeds.

“The ball from Archie Gray is absolutely sensational,” said Dawson.
“He picks the ball up just on the right-hand side in his own half and hits a long diagonal pass to Sinisterra, who runs at Harry Clarke and he lets him get in the box, chop inside and whip the ball into the far post. The keeper doesn’t cover himself in any glory as he palms it out and it’s Joel Piroe who gets his goal.”
Impressive
It’s so impressive to see such a young player break into the Leeds first team and be able to hold onto a spot in the starting lineup.
The midfielder has been highly thought of by the Whites for a number of years and he has finally been handed his opportunity to impress this season.
Gray hit the headlines when he started training with the Leeds first team under Marcelo Bielsa when he was just 15 and was named on the bench against Arsenal in December 2021.

The 17-year-old is the son of Andy Gray, grandson of Frank Gray and great-nephew of Eddie Gray – all of which played for the West Yorkshire club.
He is doing a great job of following in the footsteps of his family members and, with performances like he has shown against Ipswich in the first half, there is surely a lot more to come from the youngster.
