Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds clash v Sheffield Wednesday: ‘I fancy them’

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday will earn a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Elland Road on Saturday.

Leeds go into their Yorkshire derby showdown as Championship leaders but know that they are level on points with second-placed West Brom and any slip-up could see them concede their top spot to their title rivals.

Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, have been in rotten form and have lost three games in a row going into their trip to Elland Road.

However that has not stopped ex-Leeds midfielder Prutton from predicting a four-goal draw at the weekend.

“Leeds were brilliant for 45 minutes against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Monday night, and their fans will be hoping that’s a sign of things to come next season,” he said on the Sky Sports website.

“They are top of the league and have a big gap to third, but need to focus on the job at hand. Sheffield Wednesday had a really poor festive season, losing their last three on the spin. Despite their poor form, I fancy them to get a point.”

We don’t want to sound overconfident – but why is Prutton predicting a draw?

Garry Monk’s side are in poor form and are going to be without star striker Steven Fletcher this weekend due to a long-term injury he’s picked up.

And then you have Leeds, who are getting close to having a fully fit squad and are bound to be on a high after their impressive display at Arsenal on Monday.

A few of Marcelo Bielsa’s key players were rested and haven’t played since New Years Day so why can’t Leeds win this?

Prutton is usually very optimistic about Leeds so his prediction is actually quite a surprise.
