Sky Sports pundit hails ‘Extraordinary’ Leeds United manager Daniel Farke

Daniel Farke has been hailed for the “extraordinary” job he has done as manager of Leeds United this season by Andy Hinchcliffe.

The Whites currently sit in second place in the Championship table after starting 2024 with 11 wins in 13 games in all competitions to greatly bolster their promotion hopes.

And speaking while on commentary during the clash with Huddersfield on Sky Sports (2 March, 12:52), Hinchcliffe was quick to point out that he had a big job on his hands when he walked through the doors at Elland Road in the summer.

“The job he’s done at Leeds this season, extraordinary,” he said.

“Remember they’d just been newly relegated. There were a lot of players leaving, Premier League players that left the club after that relegation. So just sorting out the squad, knowing the players he had available to him was a real difficulty.

“But once that was settled and he’s been able to put his stamp on the team, they’ve never really looked back.”

Leeds United have the right man in charge in Daniel Farke

There were a lot of names linked with the manager’s job during the summer after Sam Allardyce walked away from the role, but there were no real stand out candidates.

After Marcelo Bielsa left the club, the old board got it all wrong with Jesse Marsch and Javi Gracia before Allardyce failed to save the club after their SOS call.

But the 49ers Enterprises were heavily involved in the process to bring Farke into the club and they have been proven correct, because he has got every major decision right so far.

He dealt with the Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra issues at the start of the season brilliantly, he has recruited well to make the team stronger and has consistently got the team right in the big moments to get results.

Obviously things aren’t perfect, because they never can be, but Farke is as close to the perfect appointment as they could have mustered up in the summer and he’s proving to be one of the very best at this level.
