Sky Sports pundit gushes over fan favourite Brenden Aaronson in Leeds United v Southampton

Dave Edwards gushed over Brenden Aaronson in the first half of the Leeds United v Southampton Premier League clash on Saturday.

The United States international was looking lively in the final third and started the game strongly – combining well with the attackers around him.

He also worked tirelessly off the ball to close down the Saints defenders and midfielders and impressed Edwards, who was on co-commentary for the Premier League world feed.

The Sky Sports pundit said, “The fans already love him. His pressing is infectious. He can hurt you with his running power.

“Been an incredible signing for them. A real nightmare to play against.”

Hit the ground running

Aaronson has already proven why Marcelo Bielsa was so desperate to sign him back in January.

The moment Leeds secured Premier League status for next season, this transfer gained traction and soon he was a Leeds player.

Jesse Marsch knows him personally and appears to be getting the best out of him already.

He is one of the most important players in the team, the first name of the team sheet and also exceptional with his set-piece delivery.

Even in the first half against Southampton, Leeds almost scored because of a well-worked corner which was played into the box by Aaronson.

We’re hoping he continues playing the same way in the second half and Leeds need to score a goal or two soon as anything can happen in the dying stages of games.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites now have a clear run to sign a £20m-rated left-back as their Premier League rivals have now bowed out of the race.
