Sky Sports pundit excited as Leeds United make Javi Gracia appointment

Jermaine Beckford admits that Leeds United have made the right decision by bringing Javi Gracia back to the Premier League.

The former Leeds striker celebrated the announcement on Twitter and when asked about the appointment, he said that he’s excited to see what he brings to the table.

Leeds currently find themselves in the bottom three and face 20th placed Southampton on Saturday and announced this week that Gracia will be the man in charge until the end of the season.

Beckford, a Sky Sports pundit, said on Twitter, “Good appointment. Knows the league and knows his stuff. I’m excited to see what he brings.”

Good move

Watford have a notorious history of sacking their managers and the fact that Gracia lasted for nearly two seasons suggests that he did a relatively good job there.

He kept them in the Premier League on two occasions and even got them to play eye catching football despite being favourites to go down.

A number of players improved under him as he deployed a 4-2-2-2 system that made the most of their creative players.

There’s a good chance that he deploys a similar system at Leeds and we could see Willy Gnonto and Jack Harrison playing slightly different roles.

There certainly is excitement but before playing attractive football, Gracia needs to ensure that this side is capable of picking up wins.

They haven’t since November and that’s worrying for a team that even broke their transfer record in January and made a total of four new signings.
