Sky Sports pundit drops Victor Orta verdict amid Leeds United sack update

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has admitted Victor Orta must shoulder a fair share of criticism after the sporting director was sacked by Leeds United.

The Whites confirmed Orta’s departure on Tuesday 2 May, with Javi Gracia set to follow the sporting director out of West Yorkshire.

Robinson believes Orta’s recent recruitment and managerial appointments haven’t been up to scratch.

“Victor has to take a fair bit of the criticism as well as the players and the manager,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He’s been there for a long time now and always seems to get linked with other jobs. You look at the players he signed, he’s had a couple of decent signings. But overall you look at the player that he’s brought in that have succeeded.

“Yes, managerial wise he find Marcelo Bielsa, who was excellent, what a find that was and that worked. But since his departure, the recruitment, players and management hasn’t been up to scratch and he has to take his fair share of criticism.”

BBC Sport report (2 May) that Sam Allardyce is set to be named as Leeds’ new head coach for their remaining fixtures, with a visit to Manchester City next up for the Whites.

In other Leeds United news, other senior figures are now in line to be fired along with the manager after “emergency” talks.
