Sky Sports pundit drools over 'exciting' Leeds ace who's 'got all the ingredients' to play in PL

Jobi McAnuff has claimed that on-loan Leeds United defender Ben White is the best player in the Championship aged 22 or under.

White, 22, has been in fine form for Leeds this season, playing every minute of every Championship match to help the Yorkshire club sit second in the table and 10 points clear of third place with 22 games played.

He has not only been a stand-out at Elland Road but also in the Championship, with no other centre-back being able to play as well as he has this term.

Former Reading and Watford midfielder McAnuff has been thrilled with what he has seen from White during his loan spell away from Brighton this term.

“I’m going for Ben White [as the best young player in the Championship],” McAnuff told Sky Sports’ EFL Podcast via Spreaker [25m50s]. “He’s another young, really exciting talent.

“He’s really impressed me with how comfortable he is on the ball. He’s really shown a maturity beyond his years.

“We all know the pressure of playing for Leeds and the expectation from that football club but he’s really handled that.

“He’s got all aspects to his game. He doesn’t mind a tackle, he reads it really well and has the composure to find that pass and really get Leeds on the go.”

Danny Mills told Football Insider earlier this month that he can see White playing for top Premier League teams like Manchester City and Tottenham.

McAnuff has suggested that he fully agrees with the former Leeds left-back.

“Well you look at John Stones, for example, for me that’s the next step for him; getting a move or going back to Brighton and possibly playing there, proving himself at the top level,” the Sky Sports pundit added.

“He’s got all the ingredients to go and do it, that’s for sure.”

White would not look out of place in the Premier League at all.

Not many fans would have heard of the loaned-out Brighton defender before the start of this season but he has definitely made a name for himself at Elland Road.

If Leeds somehow fail to win promotion this term then they might as well be saying goodbye to White for good because there’s no way he will spend another season in the Championship.
