Sky Sports pundit delivers verdict on Leeds promotion after one win in five

A draw against West Brom was a good result for Leeds United but it means Marcelo Bielsa’s men have only won one in five games after a run of seven consecutive wins.

However, former West Brom player Jonas Olsson doesn’t think there’s anything to worry about for Leeds fans.

West Brom have also won one in the last five and the chasing pack have been dropping points too.

The gap between Leeds and third-placed Brentford is nine points.

Talking after the game last night on Sky Sports (Wednesday, 7pm), Olsson was asked if there was a chance of either team slipping from the top two after their recent blip in form.

“I don’t think either of them will because I see these two teams as the best in the league by far,” Olsson said.

“They’re more consistent and they’re both going to be up there come the end of the season. There were stronger teams chasing last year.”

No one wants to start counting chickens. There’s still almost a full second half of the season to come and there will be many twists and turns before the season is over.

However, Leeds are in a brilliant position and Olsson is right – the teams chasing are not as strong as they were last year when Sheffield United had a stellar second half of the season.

Leeds are 1/20 to go up with the bookies. That means you’d have to bet £20 to win £1. It gives Leeds a 95% chance of getting promoted.

It’s all about taking the season one game at a time now. And finding a replacement striker for Eddie Nketiah.
