Sky Sports moot major Leeds United move for new striker in January

Sky Sports have mooted a potential new striker for Leeds United as the January transfer window starts to gather pace.

The Whites kicked off their business with a move for Mateo Joseph Fernandez, who arrived from Espanyol.

With the under-23s strengthened early, it looks as though Victor Orta will be switching his attention to the senior side.

Writing in their latest transfer blog, Sky Sports shared where each Premier League club could strengthen in the next three weeks.

“The club have especially missed Bamford’s influence on the pitch and despite only making six Premier League appearances this season, he is the side’s second-highest goalscorer (two) behind Raphinha (eight),” they wrote.

“Could Leeds move for a forward in January to get them firing for the second half of the season?”

Second choice.

Everyone knows that Leeds will be putting their eggs into the basket of a new midfielder before the January window closes.

If that can be done quickly, it is very possible that another striker could arrive at Elland Road in the next three weeks.

Joe Gelhardt has really stepped up in recent weeks, though and if Tyler Roberts’ injury isn’t too bad, having those two behind Patrick Bamford may be enough for the rest of the season.

It is time to put our foot down this month, bring in a couple of new signings and make 100% sure that this squad is ready for the second half of the season.

Whether a new attacker is needed, no one would say no to that.
