Leeds United will still likely smash their transfer record to sign a new striker this summer, according to David Reed.
The Sky Sports journalist shared the update live on air on Monday [08 August] that the Whites will go big despite missing out on Charles De Ketelaere to AC Milan.
It is shared that Andrea Radrizzani has money set aside for Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch to get their new man, with only three weeks now left in the window.
Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Good Morning Transfers, as shared on their website, Reed dropped the latest on the hunt for another number nine at Elland Road.
“The next club we’re going to look at is Leeds United,” he said.
“Again, Leeds United looking for a striker, they have been all of this window, they went heavy on Charles De Ketelaere, but he’s gone to AC Milan.
“We know there is money set aside to sign a striker for Leeds, and probably if they do get someone in, it would be a club-record deal for Leeds United as well.”
Thankfully, the club have not rested on their laurels after missing out on De Ketelaere.
The same money that was put aside for him – over £30million – is there to be used, and it looks as though it will be fired at another striker between now and the end of the month.
With a left-back also needed, it may not be as much as what would have gone on the Belgian international, but it could still surpass the money spent on Rodrigo.
Orta and Marsch will have sat down for plenty of meetings in recent weeks looking for alternatives, with Martin Terrier and Arnaud Kalimuendo already mentioned.
Leeds got their Premier League season off to a flyer against Wolves on Saturday [06 August], and it could be even better with a couple more wins and another record transfer this month.
Bring it on, it is time to really put our foot on the gas again.
