Leeds midfielder signs new three-year deal

Sky Sports has reported that Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The news was reported on its transfer blog at 12.37pm on Tuesday.

Bogusz joined Leeds in January 2019 for a fee of around £100,000 from Ruch Chorzow.

He made one start for Leeds in the EFL Cup last season but had to wait until the last Championship game of the campaign to get any action in the league.

Bogusz made a 17-minute cameo in the 4-0 win against Charlton.

The news was confirmed by Leeds shortly after.

Loan move ahead

Bogusz came to Leeds and was talking about making an impact in the first team.

That hasn’t really happened yet – he was on the bench seven times last season in the Championship but was in the Under-23s the rest of the time.

We’ve watched him a lot for the Under-23s and he’s a player we’ve been impressed with but he’s still really raw.

We’d expect him to follow Ryan Edmondson this summer and head out on loan to get some first-team experience.

A lower table side in the Championship or a top-half League One side would suit Bogusz and we’d like him to get a half-season deal and come back to be assessed in January.

He’s obviously a player who Leeds have high hopes for in the future. His current deal was set to expire in 2021.
