Sky Sports journalist shares latest on Leeds United ace Rodrigo transfer to Al Rayyan amid Everton links
Everton target Rodrigo appears to have already played his final game for Leeds United as he looks set to seal his permanent exit this summer.
According to Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers, the move to the Qatari side will be confirmed on Wednesday, 12 July.
He was linked with a move to the Toffees, but the financials involved in the deal meant it difficult for them to sign him.
Via Twitter, Myers wrote, “Rodrigo to Qatar will be confirmed later today, this one not for Everton in the end bearing in mind financials involved.”
Good for Leeds
It was pretty clear that this deal has been driven by the financials and Everton are in no situation to pay what the requirements were.
They are walking on a tightrope when it comes to FFP and had the Spaniard been willing to join on loan, a deal could’ve been done.
However, it looks like Leeds wanted the money upfront and that’s why his sale to the Middle East has now been sanctioned.

He will follow Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, and Brenden Aaronson out of the door at Elland Road and will certainly not be the final one to leave.
It remains to be seen how much Leeds end up making for their once club-record signing.
He’s had his ups and downs at Elland Road, but from a personal standpoint, he’s one of the better players since their promotion to the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, the club have been handed a boost to sign a Manchester United player this summer with Erik ten Hag likely to sanction his exit.
