Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridges shares Leeds United relegation verdict as image emerges
Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridges believes Leeds United boss Sam Allardyce will go into the last game against Tottenham at Elland Road believing they can secure Premier League safety.
A dramatic game at Elland Road on Saturday which swung wildly back and forth saw the Whites pick up a crucial point with a 2-2 draw against Newcastle.
The result leaves Leeds United sitting just a point from safety after Everton who sit above them in 17th suffer a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City leaving things really interesting as the season enters the penultimate stage.
And Sky Sports journalist Bridge provided his reaction to an image [13 May] which emerged live on air showing Leeds United have a 68% chance of following Southampton back down to the Sky Bet Championship.
He said: “We go back to Leeds, potential relegation is high but I think Sam Allardyce will be watching West Ham’s European match on Thursday, probably hoping it goes to extra time, and how will they be morale-wise?
“I really think Leeds should go to West Ham thinking they can get something.
“Spurs last home game of the season, If you ask Allardyce would you take beating Tottenham at home to stay in the Premier League, I have a feeling he might say yes, I’ve just got a feeling.
“Things aren’t going great at the moment for Spurs, they’ve just lost at Aston Villa on Saturday, I think that’s a fixture that Allardyce will really look to.”
Huge tests
Leeds United sit in a very precarious position in the table right now and Allardyce will have certainly preferred his side to be sitting where Everton are, rather than just a point away from safety.
The Whites’ problem has been picking up consistent wins and it makes fans wonder where their next three points are coming from, which will hand the likes of Everton and Nottingham Fores all the encouragement and confidence they need.

The West Ham and Tottenham tests are huge pivotal for the future of Leeds United.
Though it may look difficult on paper, Bridge is right Allardyce may be feeling quietly confident they can get something from the game, given their encouraging performances against Manchester City and Newcastle under his brief stewardship so far.
West Ham have all but secured their own Premier League status and may suffer a potential European hangover which gives Leeds United all the incentive they need to go on and grab the three points. Tottenham are in terrible fodder right now, and a win on the last day won’t be hugely surprising.
However, all of this is all talk. The Whites simply have to follow through with some positive results or their top-flight status becomes in real and perilous danger.
In other Leeds United news, a club has a “Plan A” this summer to sell a player to the Whites.
