Sky Sports journalist blasts Dan James for what he did for Wales v Austria
Leeds winger Daniel James was blasted by Sky Sports journalist Lewis Jones after squandering multiple opportunities for Wales during their game against Austria on Thursday.
Wales were taking on Austria in a World Cup qualifier in Cardiff, with a place in the playoff final up for grabs with James named as a starter on the left wing alongside Gareth Bale in attack.
But the Whites winger was in shocking form in front of goal, passing up three big chances during the game and Sky’s Jones was quick to call him up on it.
“For all Dan James’ pace, his finishing leaves a lot to be desired,” he said.
“That’s two big chances he has spurned now. He did the hard part getting into the position and setting up the chance with his raw speed. All that is missing is that composure.”
Same old story
More of the same old story for Leeds fans reading that or watching the game, isn’t it?
James has struggled to find any sort of consistency since arriving at Elland Road in a £25m deal, scoring just four times and assisting a further three in 26 appearances.
It seems that he doesn’t reserve that rush of blood to the head just for us though, with Wales fans furious at his lack of clinicalness in front of goal potentially costing them.
Ultimately it didn’t, as two Bale strikes earned them a 2-1 win over Austria and they’re now one step closer to getting to the World Cup in Qatar but James must turn his focus back to Elland Road now.
With a relegation battle still running strong, Leeds need him at his electric best to help create as much chaos as possible to survive for another season of Premier League football.
