Sky Sports host slams Daniel Farke for what he said after Leeds United defeat v Sunderland
David Prutton has slammed Daniel Farke after the Leeds United boss claimed that Sunderland parked the boss during their 1-0 win on Tuesday at the Stadium of Light.
The Sky Sports host, writing in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post (16 December) labelled Farke’s remarks as “rubbish” and “inaccurate” and claimed that Leeds United are in for a long season if they can’t find a way past teams who are going to defend as Sunderland did.
Black Cats midfielder Jobe Bellingham scored the winner on Tuesday (12 December) as they ended Leeds United’s seven-game unbeaten run, executing a game plan to neutralise the Whites’ attacking threat.

The German coach was clearly frustrated at his side’s lack of quality in the final third, which meant they were unable to breach Sunderland’s backline before claiming after the game that interim coach Mike Dodds “tried to park the bus” and hit Leeds United with counter-attacks.
Prutton responded to Farke’s comments, writing: “I thought the phrase that came out of Daniel Farke’s mouth about Sunderland parking the bus was just completely inaccurate.
“To say that a team that is compact, solid and hard to break has parked the bus is quite frankly rubbish. If Leeds don’t have the answers to teams that are going to defend in that type of way, rigidly with discipline then it’s going to be a long season that’s going to end in disappointment.
“They’ve got the players to break that type of stuff down.”
Rubbish indeed
Leeds United lacked their usual fluidity and imagination on Wearside on Tuesday and that was down to the rare abject displays from Georginio Rutter, Dan James, Joel Piroe and Crysencio Summerville – displays which cost the Whites at least a solitary point.
Prutton hit the nail on the head with his assessment that Farke’s comments were “inaccurate” and “rubbish” because if you want to be one of the best teams in the land, that’s the obstacle you have to face from opponents.

The reason clubs like Ipswich and Leicester City are so far above Leeds United in the table right now is because of their quality and ingenuity in breaking down teams with stout defences, they always have an answer to those obstacles.
It’s no use and not a good look from Farke throwing his toys out of the pram regarding Sunderland’s approach he simply just has to get on with it and with the quality his team possesses, they should really have no problems with teams who defend that way.
Sunderland’s approach was completely understandable and warranted given their managerial situation right now and recent form before Tony Mowbray’s sacking.
Leeds United should very much have been prepared for that but Tuesday cleary showed they weren’t and they were deservedly made to pay for it. Let’s hope lessons are learned after that defeat, Farke especially.
