Sky Sports host predicts Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds United in Championship

Sky Sports host David Prutton has predicted a 2-2 draw between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Friday.

Speaking on the Essential EFL podcast [22 August], Prutton – who spent three years apiece at each club – sat on the fence for the game and backed the crowd to make it an intense affair.

Leeds have currently drawn each of their opening two Championship games as a thrilling 3-3 clash with Portsmouth was followed up by a goalless stalemate at West Brom.

Prutton reasoned: “I think it’ll be a bumper crowd, Leeds will take a massive number down the M1.

“It’ll be a test for Wednesday to see what Danny Rohl’s hype is about, and Leeds needed to address their defence and did so with a draw [against West Brom] that will not live long in the memory at all.”

Leeds United search for first win

Leeds United are in need of their first victory of the season to kickstart a campaign that has begun in unideal circumstances.

The early results aside, it’s the fear of the transfer window potentially collapsing Leeds’ season as it rolls on that is plaguing the Elland Road faithful, and doubtless Daniel Farke as well.

The club have so far made four confirmed signings with plenty of profit incurred as a net spend throughout the window, high-profile sales leaving all over the shop.

Almeria winger Largie Ramazani is set to raise that number of incomings to five, as he completes a £10m deal and bolsters Farke’s wide options – the club are in a race to register him for Friday’s contest.

Sheffield Wednesday will have been given a considerable dressing down by Farke’s compatriot Rohl following their 4-0 thrashing by Sunderland last weekend, which cancelled out their opening weekend rout over Plymouth Argyle – they are an unpredictable quantity at the moment, in true Championship fashion.

In other Leeds news, an obstacle emerges in the race to sign Hannibal Mejbri.
