Sky Sports host predicts Leeds United result v Preston, issues verdict on Ipswich in promotion race
David Prutton has predicted Leeds United to secure a victory over Preston North End when the sides meet on Tuesday (26 December).
Writing on the Sky Sports website on Sunday (24 December), the host said the Lilywhites are having a “frustrating spell” after winning just one of their past seven Championship matches, while the Whites will be “feeling fantastic” following their 4-0 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday (23 December).
He believes Daniel Farke’s side will record a 2-0 win over the Lancashire club to ramp up the pressure on the Tractor Boys before they face table-topping Leicester City later on Tuesday.

“It has been a frustrating spell for Preston,” said Prutton. “They are in a good position in the table, but because they started the season so well it always feels difficult when it turns a little.
“Leeds will be feeling fantastic after their win over Ipswich. They can close the gap to four points, and know that Ipswich have to face Leicester later in the day. Things could get very interesting. Away win, and pressure on the Tractor Boys.”
Make it count
The early kick-off time for Leeds has presented them with an excellent opportunity to try and put the pressure on Ipswich before they face Leicester.
If the Whites can close the gap to just four points on the Tractor Boys, then they will know they absolutely have to pick up a result against the Foxes at Portman Road.
The 4-0 hammering on Saturday could have dealt a huge psychological blow to the Suffolk outfit after Farke’s side have now done the double over their promotion rivals this season.

But the German will be looking to ensure his players will be focusing entirely on their own game as Preston will pose a difficult challenge as they find themselves just four points outside the playoffs despite sitting 13th in the table.
If there is one area the West Yorkshire club will want to improve on, it’s their slightly indifferent away form during this campaign, so this is a chance to go out there and claim a potentially massive three points in Lancashire.
