Sky Sports expert predicts result of Liverpool v Leeds United

Leeds United will travel to Anfield to face in-form Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday (23 February).

The Whites are heading into this game on the back of a 4-2 defeat against Manchester United, and Sky Sports expert Lewis Jones has predicted yet another defeat for the visitors.

The Reds are in rampaging form at the moment, and they will be eager to close the gap with Manchester City to three points.

Jones wrote for Sky Sports while predicting a 4-1 defeat for Leeds: “There shouldn’t be too many problems on the horizon here for Liverpool either.

“I’m actually afraid for a Leeds defence that has conceded an average of three goals per game over the last 10 Premier League fixtures. Gulp.

“Leeds showed yet again at the weekend that they can’t be trusted defending set-pieces properly and no team has scored more goals from corners than Liverpool this season (11).

“So, it really doesn’t take a genius to decipher backing the Liverpool centre-backs to score is a fine angle of attack.”

Tough game

It will be a very tough game for the Whites and they need to perform exceptionally well to get a positive result.

We have seen this season already that Leeds tend to struggle with their intensity right after a high voltage game, and the same can happen at Anfield.

The task gets even more difficult due to the absence of Robin Koch who picked up a head injury in the last game and will be out for this trip.

Jones is absolutely spot on here. Leeds can create problems going forward, but can they deal with the threat of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane?

Diego Llorente has been struggling at the back, and the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip could be looking to exploit from set-pieces, which Leeds are very poor at handling.

The Whites recently lost 3-0 against the other Merseyside club, and it looks really difficult for them to pick up something against a side that have won eight games in a row in all competitions.

In other Leeds United news, a double-page spread in a newspaper says that it’s the beginning of the end for this Elland Road man.
