Sky Sports drop exclusive footage of Sam Allardyce first training session at Leeds United

Sky Sports News have shared exclusive footage of Sam Allardyce’s first training session as Leeds United manager.

The Whites confirmed the departure of Javi Gracia as manager on Wednesday morning (3 May), and Allardyce, 63, was revealed as his replacement until the end of the season.

As shared via the Sky Sports News Twitter page, footage was shared of the former England manager in his new training kit as he began his first training session with the first-team at Thorp Arch.

Leeds United

Leeds United are currently only outside the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference, with a tough trip to Manchester City awaiting the Englishman this weekend (6 May).

Big Sam era begins.

Allardyce faces an extremely tricky job to whip this Leeds United side up into shape in such a short space of time.

While some coaches require months for their players to fully understand their tactical briefs and the nuances of their game plan, Allardyce has mere days to ready his team for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

The new boss will surely look at the leaky defence of Leeds as the one major area for improvement, with the club conceding a record 23 goals in April alone.

Sometimes going back to the basics of football is the way to raise confidence in a shattered dressing room, and Allardyce will almost certainly look to do this in his first few sessions at Thorp Arch.

If the former England boss can successfully navigate the club away from the relegation zone, considering the tricky upcoming fixtures, it would be seen as a minor miracle.

Leeds fans better ready themselves because the Big Sam era has begun.

In other Leeds United news, the new Whites boss now has the “biggest of nightmares for a head coach” according to Phil Hay as Sam Allardyce arrives.
