Six individuals from four Championship clubs test positive for COVID-19

Championship clubs are continuing to see people tested positive for coronavirus as Leeds United step up their preparations for the season resuming next week.

The EFL confirmed on Wednesday night that six individuals from four clubs tested positive for COVID-19 after the latest round of testing.

In a statement on their website, the EFL added that 1192 players and staff were tested, meaning that only 0.5 per cent of people tested positive.

It has been a similar number each time the EFL have released the testing numbers and as it is such a low number each time, it bodes well for the current plans for Leeds to play against Cardiff next week when the Championship season resumes.

It was reported last week that at least one person tested positive at Leeds but it was not disclosed who it was.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have continued to train as normal at Thorp Arch though and the club is no doubt planning to play a warm-up match before they make their way down to South Wales next week.

Leeds’ Championship title rivals West Brom have already played – and drawn – against Aston Villa and are reportedly set to play two games against Manchester United on Friday.

In other Leeds United news, Marcelo Bielsa is set to make one change to his starting line-up for Leeds versus Cardiff next week.
