Sir Kenny Dalglish predicts future of Ange Postecoglou amid Leeds United interest

Sir Kenny Dalglish has “no doubt” that Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou won’t leave the Scottish champions to join Leeds United to become their next manager this month.

The Australian has been on the shortlist for the Elland Road role since Jesse Marsch was sacked [Daily Record, 9 February], but Dalglish, while writing his column for the Sunday Post, has predicted that Postecoglou will be in the technical area at Hampden on February 26 when Celtic will face Rangers in the Viaplay Cup final.

The former Liverpool manager suggests that the Whites will be left “disappointed” if they hope to sign him any time soon. Postecoglou has enjoyed great success at Celtic and won the Scottish Premiership title last season.

“So, for me, there is no doubt that Ange will be in the technical area at Hampden on February 26,” wrote Dalglish.

“Leeds United may well have him in their sights, but I think they will be left disappointed if they hope to have him in place any time soon.”

It seems the Scottish Premiership winner isn’t too keen about leaving Celtic at the moment, and it’s not clear whether Leeds do really want him.

There has not been any concrete effort from the Whites. However, if they do make an attempt to appoint him, it looks unlikely that they can lure him to Elland Road.

Postecoglou has done a terrific job at Celtic and the 57-year-old could be a fantastic appointment if they can pull off a deal.

As it stands, he will continue at Celtic and will be on the touchline at Hampden later this month, unless there’s a dramatic development in the next few days.

Leeds have been left frustrated in their attempts to bring their next manager following the sacking of Jesse Marsch.

They have failed to land the likes of Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola, Arne Slot and Marcelo Gallardo, and are running out of options at the moment.

In that case, will they move for Postecoglou? We will have to wait and see.
