'Since when?' - Pontus Jansson sends Instagram message to Leeds star after 3-1 win
Pontus Jansson was surprised to see Kalvin Phillips score as Leeds United won 3-1 against Blackburn on Saturday.
Phillips, 24, bagged his second goal of the season at Ewood Park when he found the back of the net with a sumptuous free-kick.
Scoring hasn’t really been a part of Phillips’ game since Marcelo Bielsa started playing him in a deeper, more reserved midfield role and Brentford’s Jansson was clearly not expecting to see his name on the scoresheet this weekend.
Writing in response to Phillips’ latest Instagram post, the Sweden international said: “Bro, since when did you start scoring goals?”
Jansson and his Brentford team-mates might be a in fight to win promotion against Leeds but that hasn’t stopped the Sweden international from keeping a close eye on his former club.
We really didn’t want to see Jansson leave Elland Road.
We can understand why Marcelo Bielsa got rid of the centre-back but he has shown at Brentford that he is one of the best defenders in the Championship.
The best thing about selling Jansson was that Bielsa went and brought in a player who is now, without doubt, the best centre-back in the division.
Unfortunately, Ben White is only on loan and replacing him in the summer is going to be very hard.
But a lot of us thought that when Jansson left and Bielsa and Victor Orta managed to allay those concerns quite swiftly.
In other Leeds United news, Bielsa was not happy with this player in the win at Ewood Park.
