Simon Thomas reviews Daniel Farke turnaround at Leeds, makes ‘stand-out’ Brenden Aaronson claim
Simon Thomas has been impressed by Leeds United’s recent turnaround, and particularly Brenden Aaronson’s performances.
Daniel Farke is trying to keep the Whites in the Premier League, as results have picked up considerably at Elland Road over the last few months.
Leeds now sit 15th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone, and are well on track to stay in the big time, despite a troubling start to the campaign.
A big reason for the resurgence has been Aaronson, and Leeds’ performance against Chelsea last time out in the league has prompted Thomas to give the Whites some well-deserved credit.

Simon Thomas in awe of Brenden Aaronson and Leeds turnaround
Aaronson had to bide his time to become a favourite in LS11, with many supporters not keen on the attacking midfielder starting in Premier League matches.
The 25-year-old is strangely on course to have his best season with the Whites, all things considered, and fans have given him an apology over the last few weeks.
- Aaronson has played 25 games for Leeds in the Premier League
- He has seven goal contributions to his name
While speaking live on Sky Sports News, Thomas mentioned Aaronson’s performances alongside what he’s now seen from Leeds after their 2-2 draw with Chelsea.
Thomas said: “Leeds were 2-0 down and heading for defeat against Chelsea on Tuesday night, before a remarkable fightback saw the Yorkshire club leave Stamford Bridge with a point.
“It was a performance to be proud of, and it shows just how far Farke’s side has come since a run of six defeats in seven games left him feeling the pressure in November.
“One of their stand-out performers in that time has been Aaronson, who told Johnny Phillips that this Leeds side can compete with anyone on their day.”
Farke did claim a feeling of pride after the draw to the Blues, as his side continues to prove people wrong.

Why Aaronson could now do with spell out of Leeds team
Though Aaronson has been undeniably in top form for the Whites, his performances have just dropped off a touch in recent matches.
The draw against Chelsea was his sixth game without an attacking contribution since scoring a brace at St. James’ Park in a 4-3 loss to Newcastle back at the start of January.
With an FA Cup clash against Birmingham City coming up, it could be the perfect chance for Farke to start Facundo Buonanotte.

Should the Argentine perform, he could find himself given the nod in Leeds’ next Premier League match against Aston Villa.
Aaronson will be back, and though he offers energy in the middle of the park anyway, to get him back to his best in front of goal, he could do with a rest.
