Simon Jordan pays special Patrick Bamford and Leeds United fans tribute after draw v Brentford

Simon Jordan was awestruck by the atmosphere inside Elland Road after Patrick Bamford struck a late Leeds United equaliser against Brentford on Sunday (5 December).

Bamford, 28, made his long-awaited return from injury against the Bees and he was the hero as he bundled the ball into the goal to rescue a point for the Whites.

The reaction to the goal wowed ex-Crystal Palace chairman Jordan, who expressed his pleasure at the scenes during his talkSPORT show on Monday afternoon (6 December).

“Cor, blimey, [the] roof came off,” Jordan said.

He was also enthused by Bamford’s post-match comments.

Jordan added: “His comment, ‘my dad will tell me off for taking my shirt off’, I thought it was brilliant. What a lad. Nice lad.”

There are few better noises than the sound of Elland Road erupting after a crucial last-gasp goal.

Bamford’s equaliser was struck in the 95th-minute to cap a positive week for the Whites, after Tuesday’s (30 November) 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at the same venue.

Leeds are now 15th in the Premier League table and six points ahead of Burnley, who occupy the final spot in the relegation zone.

Bamford’s return, alongside that of Luke Ayling, provided a big boost to the club, with the pair combining for the last goal of the game.

Marcelo Bielsa will hope to see more scenes like that in the coming weeks as he aims to turn Elland Road into a fortress.

He will have to wait until 18 December for Leeds’ next home clash against Arsenal, though, with tough trips to Chelsea (11 December) and Manchester City (14 December) next on the agenda.
