Simon Jordan hits out at Leeds ownership after what’s happened 226 miles away – ‘I’m flabbergasted’

Simon Jordan has criticised the 49ers Enterprises after scenes away from Leeds United.

Paraag Marathe and Co have guided Leeds back into the Premier League, but it has not been an easy start to the campaign.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke eased some of the pressure on his job, with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea on 3 December.

However, it is something 226 miles away from Elland Road that has left Jordan raging with the ownership group.

What did Simon Jordan say about the 49ers and Leeds?

The 49ers also have a significant stake in Rangers, and events in Scotland have led to concern from the former Crystal Palace owner.

The Gers got rid of sporting director Kevin Thelwell and CEO Patrick Stewart after the disastrous appointment of Russell Martin, and Jordan is worried about their running of the Whites, as a result.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 4 December, he said: “I’m curious to see about this ownership model, because I’m flabbergasted, without wanting to take it off-piste.

“The way they handled the Rangers situation, because you know what a big club looks like, you must know there is a uniqueness about Rangers, why did you handle it the way you did?

“Now you have taken out your chief executive, your director of football, you made a bad appointment, that you must have been involved with or completely delegated, and this is the ownership model that runs Leeds.”

Why Rangers scenes have no bearing on Leeds

The Scottish giants and the Peacocks are two separate entities, despite being linked by ownership.

There are different figures in charge of each club, and so far, the 49ers have not done much wrong in LS11, they have achieved their immediate ambition, getting the Whites back into the top-flight.

The only criticism may be that they did not bring in enough forwards in the summer transfer window, but there may not have been the right player on the market, who they were comfortable spending big money on.

The Gers’ struggles do not reflect on their ownership of the Yorkshire side, the Scottish club were in a state of chaos before the takeover, and it will not be easy to reverse the situation.

Leeds are in a much better situation, and it is not a fair comparison to make, despite how easy it is to draw that conclusion.

If they do something wrong in the near future, it will not be a result of what has happened in Govan.
