Simon Jordan backs Southampton for promotion ahead of Leeds United despite Norwich City win

Simon Jordan and Martin O’Neil have offered their predictions for the Play-Offs after Leeds United reached the final with a 4-0 win over Norwich City on Thursday (16 May).

On Friday night (17 May), the Whites will learn who they are to face at Wembley as Southampton welcome West Bromwich Albion.

Speaking on talkSPORT (17 May), Jim White asked Jordan and O’Neil for their promotion predictions ahead of the clash at St Mary’s.

Jordan said: “I don’t think personally they will. I think Southampton will win against West Brom, and then Southampton will beat Leeds in the final.

When prompted by White, O’Neil added: “I’m inclined to agree with Simon in terms of Southampton but for the final Leeds United have got some brilliant attacking players. I couldn’t call it.”

Leeds United are Wembley ready

Thanks to a convincing win over Norwich at Elland Road, the Whites are now preparing for their first Wembley trip in 16 years.

Goals from Ilia Gruev, Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville saw Daniel Farke’s side dispatch the Canaries with ease.

Now they will await the result of Southampton against West Brom knowing their opposition at Wembley will be the winner of the clash.

Despite some recent poor form, they have sprung back to life with a superb win which could prove to be a good omen.

Farke will certainly be happy to see his star men, Rutter and Summerville back amongst the goals after a dry spell in May.

Wilfried Gnonto provided the assist for Piroe’s goal with a world-class cross in yet another positive sign ahead of the Wembley clash.

Leeds fans can be confident of their side for their trip to the capital, even if Jordan and O’Neil aren’t positive about their chances.
