'Signs of life' - Michael Owen predicts result of Leeds vs Norwich

Michael Owen believes the Leeds performance against Aston Villa was ‘alarming’ in midweek, but he’s still backing them to take all three points against Norwich.

The Whites were beaten 3-0 by Villa at Elland Road and mustered just one shot on target in 90 minutes, leaving them two points above the relegation zone with just ten games remaining.

But despite the shocking performance, Owen says he saw ‘signs of life’ against Leicester prior to that and thinks the home side will take a 1-0 win over basement club Norwich on Sunday in his BetVictor predictions.

“Things aren’t looking good for Leeds,” he said. “I had seen signs of life under Jesse Marsch, but that performance against Villa on Wednesday was alarming. Morale in the dressing room can’t be good, they need a win soon.

“Things look even more bleak at Norwich. They’re now five points off safety and it’s hard to see where the next win is going to come from. They’re the league’s lowest scorers, and Pukki has eight of their 17 goals.

“I can’t see Leeds not winning here. This is the perfect fixture for them to get three points, I’m going for a 1-0 win.”

Leeds are now past the point of just not losing games, they need to win. Especially against the teams around them, which Norwich are.

They won’t have wanted any other fixture to fall into their calendar right now. A home game against the leagues bottom team and the worst defence beside themselves in the division.

Marsch has implemented his ideas and they haven’t quite worked yet, but he should be boosted by the return of Patrick Bamford for a longer period of time which will help in the goals department.

A win would see them create more of a gap between themselves and the teams around them and also build momentum while giving the loyal fan base some hope to hold on to in the run-in.

The fans need a reason to support Marsch after he replaced Marcelo Bielsa, and a win over Norwich would be the perfect way to get them all on side going forward.
