Shay Given destroys Jesse Marsch and Dan James in Leeds United loss v Chelsea

Shay Given tore into Dan James for the reckless challenge that got him sent off in the Leeds United loss against Chelsea.

The Whites ended up losing the game 3-0 and their survival hopes took another major blow.

Jesse Marsch was seen talking to him while he walked back to the tunnel and Given feels that he should not be doing that, to begin with.

Speaking on Premier League Productions’ post-match show, Given, a BT Sport pundit, said, “There’s no defending that. It’s madness. A horrendous challenge. Don’t know what the manager is telling him there. It’s shameful to see that happening.”

Given is talking as if Marsch was the reason why James endangered the player’s safety with such a silly challenge like that.

All the American did was check up on his player after he got sent off – which is what most managers do.

However, to put a spin on that like it’s the coach’s fault, is baffling, to say the least/

Discussing James, it’s unforgivable what he did and he ended a disastrous campaign for himself on an unbelievably low note.

Leeds will now be without him as well as Luke Ayling for their next two games which is going to be a major blow.

How Marsch deals with it, remains to be seen, but this is the toughest challenge in his career and if he thinks he deserves the Elland Road job, it’s about time he proves it.

In other Leeds United news, a first-team regular has turned down a new Elland Road contract and will sign it only under one condition.
