‘Sell’, ‘Shouldn’t be anywhere near the club’ – Many Leeds fans hit out over £30k-a-wk player

Leeds United fans are concerned that Marcelo Bielsa might reinstate Kiko Casilla in the starting line-up now that his ban is over.

Casilla, 33, has now served his entire eight-match ban for racially abusing Jonathan Leko and is allowed to play against Barnsley at Elland Road on Thursday night.

In his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Bielsa was asked if Casilla would return to his squad but the Leeds manager refused to give a definitive answer.

“I didn’t define the team yet, so I prefer the players know first and after I can make a statement,” he said, as quoted by LeedsLive.

Leeds fans are now hoping and praying that £30,000-a-week [Mail] Casilla is not involved in any of the final three games against Barnsley, Derby and Charlton, who Leko was playing for when he was racially abused by Casilla.

Illan Meslier has done a fantastic job since coming in and replacing Casilla while he’s suspended.

Although the Frenchman can be criticised for his distribution and having a couple of shaky moments, on the whole, he has been a very solid goalkeeper and one that we think does not deserve to be dropped.

Does Bielsa feel the same way?

Bielsa’s not a fan of rotation and making changes for the sake of it unless he feels that a change can improve his team drastically.

But keeping the defence as consistent as possible is surely the way that Bielsa will approach the final three games and that means keeping Casilla out of the side.

That is what many Leeds fans are hoping for with some of them not even wanting to see the ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper play for the club again.
