'Sell', 'Atrocious' - Many Leeds fans destroy outfielder for 'Worst performance under MB' v Hull

Leeds United fans have torn Barry Douglas to shred for his performance in the Carabao Cup defeat to Hull City at Elland Road on Wednesday night.

Ezgjan Alioski’s last-minute equaliser wasn’t enough for the Whites as they crashed out of the competition in a penalty shoot-out.

Although Leeds and Hull were in the same league last season, it was Premier League versus League One this week but hardly any players impressed – especially Douglas.

The 31-year-old left-back has had a tough time at Elland Road in the past year having only started six Championship matches last season.

Douglas is viewed as Leeds’ only natural left-back in Marcelo Bielsa’s senior squad but it speaks volumes that Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski are ahead of him in the pecking order in that position, even though they’re more natural on the wing.

And performances at left-back like that against Hull won’t have helped the ex-Wolves man get any further up Bielsa’s pecking order either with stats by WyScout showing that he failed to complete any crosses or dribbles and had a pass accuracy of just 75 per cent.

Douglas also won just 29 per cent of his defensive duels and lost the ball 18 times against the League One club.

It wasn’t good enough and fans have made that very clear on Twitter, with one saying that Celtic can have him for free after the Scottish champions were linked with a deal [Sky Sports].

Here is a selection of their tweets:

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have agreed a £70,000-a-week contract with this potential new signing.
