‘Says it all’ – Adrian Durham sends Twitter message to Bamford after Leeds transfer claim

TalkSPORT host Adrian Durham has thrown his support behind Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford after David O’Leary questioned his Premier League credentials.

The former Elland Road manager gave an interview to the broadcaster in which he claimed that it was important that the Whites brought in another forward this summer to make up for Bamford’s shortfall in front of goal.

The 26-year-old then replied to the story on Twitter, retweeting the article alongside the caption: “And so it starts”.

And Durham was quick to show his support for the striker, who has come in for criticism at times this season because of his inconsistent finishing record.

Writing on his own Twitter account, the presenter said: “The only opinion that matters is that of Marcelo Bielsa.

“He’s believed in you all season, and Leeds are champions.

“Says it all. Rise above it.”

We have to agree with Durham on this one, to be honest.

Bamford is always going to have his detractors because he isn’t the sharpest finisher out there.

His goals per game ratio of 0.36 from an xG of 0.6 this season, as per Wyscout, is hardly electric.

But the simple fact is that not a single one of the people who criticise him know as much about football as Marcelo Bielsa.

If the Argentine backs Bamford to lead his line in the Premier League, then we have to have faith that that is the correct decision.

After all, the striker has hit 16 goals in the Championship this term, which is hardly a bad return, and he does have the backing of Leeds favourites like Jermaine Beckford, who describes himself as a “big fan” of the forward.

At the very least, Bamford deserves a chance to prove himself.
