San Francisco 49ers to push for Leeds United takeover this summer amid Elland Road cash reveal

The San Franciso 49ers are likely to try and complete a full takeover of Leeds United this summer, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper reports that after avoiding relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the season, Leeds need to address weaknesses within their squad.

And it seems that if the 49ers do become outright owners of the Whites in the coming weeks and months, they’ll stump up more funds than incumbent owner Andrea Radrizzani has done.

The Telegraph says: “Investment is also key: the San Francisco 49ers are likely to push for a complete takeover this summer, and will be expected to stump up more cash than the previous regime.”

Exciting times

If this summer is the end for Radrizzani, it might be for the best.

While we’ll never forget what the Italian businessman has done for Leeds United Football Club, this season has shown that he may have reached his limit in terms of what he can do to take us to the next level.

Radrizzani is a wealthy man – but he doesn’t come close to having the wealth than an entire NFL franchise.

The 49ers’ presence has been felt at Leeds for some time and while Paraag Marathe’s role as vice-chairman may not have been behind the move to hire Jesse Marsch as manager, it sure feels like it’s a stretch to call it a coincidence.

The 49ers are bound to spend more than Radrizzani too and hand Marsch a real war chest to spend in the summer.

According to data by Statista, the San Fransico 49ers are worth $4.18billion, which equates to around £3.3billion.

Leeds have spent a fair bit of money since winning promotion with deals for Rodrigo, Daniel James, Diego Llorente, Jack Harrison, Robin Koch, Helder Costa and Junior Firpo adding up to being well over £100million.

However, no one has been sold to offset the spending.

With the 49ers in complete control, we might be able to keep on spending without having to cash in players.

Raphinha does look as though he’s all but gone from Elland Road – but a complete takeover by the 49ers could be the difference between keeping and saying goodbye to Kalvin Phillips.

In other Leeds United news, a player has arrived in England ahead of undergoing a medical with the Whites on Thursday.
