Sampdoria stance on Ronaldo Vieira clear amid Leeds United interest

Leeds United may miss out on the services of midfielder Ronaldo Vieira as Sampdoria reportedly are counting on his services.

According to Club Doria 46, manager Marco Giampaolo has decided to integrate him into his first team after a good performance against Spezia over the weekend.

Leeds were believed to be the only club keen on his services, but they’re likely to end up empty-handed with him set to stay on at Sampdoria.

Good news

Links with the 23-year-old this month have been baffling, to say the least, and we don’t think Leeds were ever serious about him.

The fact that he’s an ex player and that Leeds need a central midfielder this month made people put two and two together.

What Leeds need is a quality option in the middle of the park and who can work tirelessly up and down the pitch.

A number eight or even a number ten is something Marcelo Bielsa wants as that player will need to offer a different dimension in the final third.

While Vieira is decent enough he is not quite what the Argentine wants at Elland Road this season.

He does not have an end product or that ability to make those darting runs into the penalty area.

His injury record is not the best either and the club could certainly do way better than him.

However, with days running out in January, it remains to be seen if they can actually pull off something quickly.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay issues a major January update amid recent development that would certainly be exciting for the Elland Road faithful.
