Sam Matterface thrilled by moment of magic from Kalvin Phillips on Friday
Sam Matterface was once again left thrilled by Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips for England against Scotland.
The Yorkshire Pirlo didn’t have as much influence on the game early on, just like he did in the win over Croatia over the weekend.
Matterface was blown away by one long ball over the top to Phil Foden, something he actually described as “perfect.”
Speaking during live commentary on ITV, Matterface singled out Phillips after a moment of magic at Wembley.
“It was an inch-perfect ball,” he said.
“He was trending on social media during and after the game on Sunday.”
In a game void of much class, Phillips’ quarter-back styled passing for one of the few things we actually enjoyed.
The Yorkshire Pirlo thanked Marcelo Bielsa for his development this week, claiming he would never have made it to this point without him.
Bielsa has done that too many, and it was a special moment when he was handed the England debut shirt of Phillips last year.
Having one of our own shine for the Three Lions never gets old, and Phillips has set the perfect example for others at Elland Road to follow.
Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling and Jack Harrison have all been linked with call-ups over the past year, and the start of the next season may be critical to their hopes ahead of the World Cup.
Gareth Southgate has been watching all three, and it is up to them to make it impossible for him to overlook them next season.
