Sam Greenwood makes return to Leeds United U23 action after injury
Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood made his return from injury to take on Tottenham Hotspur in an U23s game.
The 20-year-old found the back of the net in his first match back, scoring from the penalty spot.
However, his goal was cancelled out by Jez Davies’ header in the 87th minute of the game.
Prior to kick off, LeedsLive’s Lee Sobot shared, via his personal Twitter account, “Sam Greenwood back from injury and starts for Leeds United’s under-23s tonight at Tottenham.”
Good news
The senior Leeds attackers have struggled in the final third of late and Marcelo Bielsa is no longer at the club.
This could mean that we finally see an end to Dan James’ reign as the lone striker.
The likes of Joe Gelhardt or Rodrigo could look to be played there, but Jesse Marsch may well turn to Greenwood as well.

While he does not have any senior appearances barring his debut against Crawley Town last season, he could be a decent option to have on the bench.
He’s known for scoring special goals for the U23s, including a “Sensational” hat-trick against Sunderland a year and a half ago.
Hopefully, he does not relapse again and continues to focus on scoring goals and improving as a player.
It will not be surprising if he gets a couple of senior appearances from now until the season ends.
It depends on whether or not Marsch is impressed by what he sees of the young English attacker.
