Sam Byram stuns Sky Sports commentator with what he did in Leeds United v Luton

Gary Taphouse was left stunned by Sam Byram’s opening goal for Leeds United in their 3-0 Championship victory against Luton on Wednesday.

The defender practically set himself up after a series of passes made their way into the Hatters’ box with the full-back finishing off the move with a “stunning” scissor kick.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Plus (27 November, 19:56pm), Taphouse shared his thoughts on the Whites’ opening goal.

“Beautifully done for Solomon,” he said. “Byram…and again oh, what a brilliant strike.

“Sam Byram opens the scoring for Leeds in stunning style and it’s been coming pretty much from the very first kick of the game.”

Sam Byram has been stellar for Leeds United this season

Although most football fans know the pedigree that Byram brings with him following his extensive Championship career, this season it feels like he’s hit another level.

Daniel Farke may use him as backup to both Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle but when he’s been called upon this season, he’s stood out as one of the club’s best players.

Not only has he been defensively solid but he’s also shown his hand in attack, as shown by his goal against Luton on 27 November.

He may be 31 years old and entering the latter stages of his career, but if his form from this season is anything to go off, he’s not showing any signs of slowing down.

The West Yorkshire outfit are now at the top of the Championship table thanks to their higher goal difference than second-placed Sheffield United.

If things continue as they have done this season, it’s hard to see how Farke’s men won’t be a Premier League side next season.
