Sam Allardyce wants Leeds United talks this week amid Elland Road twist

Sam Allardyce wants talks this week over his future at Leeds United after the Whites were relegated to the Championship, according to The Mirror.

Allardyce was drafted in for four matches to try and turn the tide at Elland Road. However, a solitary point from his tenure means Leeds will be back in the second tier next season.

The Mirror report (print edition, pg 47) that Allardyce wants talks imminently and that the only job that would make him stay within football is the one in West Yorkshire.

Unlikely

It’s unlikely for the board to give Allardyce the chance to take the reins next season. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of the takeover and it’s hard to see how the former West Brom boss will fit into the plans at Elland Road.

He’s certainly proven at Championship level, having tasted promotion before. However, it’s easy to see a younger more attractive manager taking the job.

It’s hard to speculate about what’s next for Leeds in terms of a manager. The ownership situation is up in the air and until it’s resolved, the rest of the footballing operations will remain in disarray.

Furthermore, there’s the sporting director role to look at as well. Victor Orta was sacked over a month ago and there has been no sign of the position being filled.

Leeds’ Championship preparations will be impacted the long this uncertainty clouds Elland Road. It’s time for answers. The fans deserve it.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that an international player at Elland Road has no place at the club next season and a summer transfer is on the cards.
