Sam Allardyce stance on Leeds United return shared with new role on the cards

Sam Allardyce is reportedly open to making a sensational return to Leeds United this summer despite leaving in June.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, he will not be the next manager of the Whites but he is prepared to join in some other capacity.

The Whites are continuing their chase for a new manager after the San Francisco 49ers completed the full takeover of the club.

Jacobs told Give Me Sport, “Big Sam has already said that he doesn’t feel he is the right man to lead Leeds as a manager, but that he is prepared to come in, in some other capacity.”

Good motivation?

If Allardyce is in some way or another going to work with the first team and be that experienced voice or consultant then it makes sense.

However, if the new owners are to plan their recruitment around what he wants, then they certainly must not bring him back.

His ideas are archaic and he’s certainly not adapted to the modern game which means that Leeds will be left behind if they work by his methods.

It remains hard to see how he can fit into a director of football position either so the club needs to have a solid plan if they do bring him back to the club.

He may have 178 Premier League wins under his belt throughout his career but his recent stints have proven that he’s not really suited for the managerial role anymore.

Ideally, it’s best if he does not come back and if he does, it should be something that the new manager and sporting director agree upon.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
