Sam Allardyce reacts to bizarre lifestyle changes Dominic Calvert-Lewin has made at Leeds in ‘important’ admission

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been on fire for Leeds United this season.

There were initial reservations when Leeds signed Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer after the striker departed Everton in the summer.

Those thoughts have been dashed in recent months, with Calvert-Lewin going on to win Premier League Player of the Month for December.

His form continued as he netted in Leeds’ 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Friday in yet another Elland Road victory.

Whatever Calvert-Lewin is doing, it’s working and now Sam Allardyce has spoken out on changes the forward made away from LS11.

Sam Allardyce loves what Dominic Calvert-Lewin has done in his personal life

Calvert-Lewin is the man of the moment at Leeds right now after what has largely been a dream first campaign in LS11 for the Englishman.

His goals have helped Daniel Farke’s side up and away from the relegation zone, something which has left West Ham and Nottingham Forest in a tricky spot.

Friday’s win against the Reds was massive and was further proof of just how important the 28-year-old is at Elland Road.

His second half goal helped his side on their way to three points as he made his way onto 10 Premier League goals for the campaign.

That may be thanks in part due to changes he made to his personal life before the season began, that former Chelsea man Tony Cascarino has taken notice of on talkSPORT.

He said: “I saw him be interviewed in the summer, Calvert-Lewin, and he talked about how he changed his life. Even with his car seats and his bed. Is this an issue? I’ve heard different types of cars give different problems for injuries as well.”

Former Leeds boss Allardyce appriciates the changes from the Elland Road ace and has highlighted the difference small changes can make.

He replied: “Absolutely, today’s science is there for all to use and see. It depends on how much you want to use it. It’s even down to mattresses. A mattress is the most important thing for a player, for their sleep. So, getting the right mattress for the individual, you want support and comfort.

They are as important as each chair, particularly chairs in your car. I do see a lot of players who hire drivers now, which is a little better. Back problems and hamstring issues come, and the more you can prevent them, the better.

Leeds United need Calvert-Lewin form to continue

There is no getting away from just how good the striker has been this campaign when it comes to being in the right place at the right time.

To have netted 10 goals with 25 Premier League games gone is impressive and he will be hoping to add to that tally in the last 13 matches of the campaign.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin Leeds United stats

There is every chance that he will do that as the Whites look to maintain their form and steer clear of the bottom three.

If they are to do that, Calvert-Lewin has a massive part to play, but he certainly has the backing of the Elland Road faithful.

Whether it is these changes that have made the difference, who knows? But all Leeds fans will care about are his goal scoring exploits.
