Sam Allardyce praised by Sky Sports pundit after what he did in Leeds United 4-1 loss v Tottenham
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has defended Sam Allardyce after the Leeds United boss opted to start a defensive lineup during the 4-1 loss to Tottenham.
The former West Brom boss started Robin Koch in midfield and Weston McKennie in a more advanced role.
Robinson feels it was the right call from the Leeds United boss, despite things not going to plan for Allardyce’s side.

“The early goal killed it. People will criticise the way they played and set up, but it was almost impossible the task that he had,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“They still had a chance on the last day. You could argue it was defensive, but you could see what he was trying to do, they had a gameplan.

“Defensively they’ve been so poor and that’s no one of the stereotypes of one of his sides. They wanted to address it. Yes, it’s a game they to win.
“Tottenham got the early goal, Leeds had to be more expansive and the defensive problems that they’ve had for so long were exposed.
“It was never going to be pretty. He was brought in with a remit of you’ve got to keep this club in the Premier League. It was an uphill task and a bad day already.”
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign one 13-goal forward this summer after an impressive European season.
