Sam Allardyce fires four questions to Leeds United board when asked about his Elland Road future

Sam Allardyce refused to be drawn on his intentions at Leeds United following the club’s relegation to the Championship on Sunday (28 May).

The Whites lost 4-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road on the final day of the Premier League season as their 19th place finish in the table was confirmed.

Big Sam was brought into the club in a last-ditch attempt to avoid the drop but he could only manage to secure one point from a possible 12, in the last four games of the campaign.

As featured on the Football on BT Sport Twitter account, Allardyce gave a robust response when asked post-match if he wants to be part of the rebuild for next season.

“Well, I don’t know,” he said.

“I can only come to that decision if they want me and also on what is the outlook of the club going to look like?

“What is the strategy of the club? What is the staffing going to look like on and off the field?

“Which direction do you want to go? That is a pretty big strategy to put in place.”

So much uncertainty

Allardyce also apologised to the Leeds supporters for not doing better in his short time at the club but the truth of the matter is that it was a thankless task.

With the squad at his disposal and the plight they were in, it was always going to be a tall order to keep the club in the Premier League but the veteran boss could not resist the call to get back into the game and at such a big club.

Will he stay? It seems unlikely that he will be kept on but before that crucial question and other football matters can be dealt with, there needs to be movement on the ownership situation at the club, and very quickly.

That can’t be allowed to drag on, otherwise, it will seriously disrupt plans for the new season.

Despite one question being answered on Sunday with the confirmation of the club’s return to the Championship, so much uncertainty remains at present, at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign one 13-goal forward this summer after an impressive European season.
