Roy Hodgson shares how Leeds have helped him stay entertained in lockdown
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has revealed he has been watching the Leeds United documentary on Amazon during lockdown.
Amazon and Netflix have a host of football documentaries with the Leeds-centred Take Us Home being one of the top ones to watch.
The documentary focused on the 2018/19 season at Elland Road when Marcelo Bielsa led his side to a third-place finish in the Championship before losing in the play-off semi-finals to Derby County.
Hodgson has been kept entertained by what happened at Leeds in Bielsa’s first season at the club, as well as other documentaries.
“The weather of course is very good at the moment, so we tend to spend a couple of hours in the morning on our balcony reading books,” said Hodgson on the Palace website. “We then normally try to use our makeshift gym facility, one after each other, using the bike to get the heart rate up and get the feeling we’ve done something physical early on in the day. After that we’ll have a lunch, and an early afternoon walk. Then like everybody else, the evenings are spent in front of the television.
“I’ve finally got round to watching several interesting documentaries from various football clubs. I watched Manchester City’s All or Nothing, then Leeds United’s Take Us Home which I very much enjoyed. I found a Maradona documentary, then caught up with the one done some while ago with QPR’s Four Year Plan, which was a bit of a debacle! Now I’m halfway through Sunderland ‘til I Die.”
Crystal Palace’s place in the Premier League next season is pretty much guaranteed with them sitting 11th with 39 points after 29 matches, so has Hodgson been trying to scope out what it will be like to come up against Bielsa?
Even though Hodgson is the most experienced manager in the Premier League, he is bound to be keeping a watch out for his potential opponents next season with Leeds currently sat top of the Championship during the coronavirus-enforced suspension of football.
As someone who lives in West London, there’s no surprise that he’s watched the QPR documentary while the Sunderland series on Netflix is an absolute must-watch for everyone.
