Ross McCormack shares what he heard about 49ers and Daniel Farke sack in summer, it’s changed now
The 49ers debated over sacking Daniel Farke over the summer at Leeds United.
Farke could soon be sacked by Leeds after what has been a difficult start to the season in the Premier League.
The Whites have struggled for form in recent weeks after Leeds lost 3-1 away to Nottingham Forest despite taking the lead early on.
Leeds also lost 3-0 to Brighton away from Elland Road, mounting further pressure on the Yorkshire club, moving into a run of unfavourable fixtures.
The risk of the sack continues to loom for Farke, and now Ross McCormack has revealed what happened over the summer in LS11.

49ers listened to Leeds fans to alter Daniel Farke sack decision
Farke was nearly sacked by Leeds after promotion, with a view to bringing in a more experienced head coach at the elite level.
The German had managed in the Premier League previously, but tasted instant relegation with a poor Norwich City side.
The 49ers sought a change in the dugout ahead of their return to the top division, but the fans voiced their opposition to this decision.
That may prove to be a mistake with a mid-season departure now looking increasingly likely for Farke.
Former Leeds man McCormack has now revealed that the American group decided against sacking the manager due to supporter discontent, but that could soon change.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on 11 November, he said: “There was talk over the summer that the 49ers were going to let Daniel Farke go, and apparently, they only didn’t let him go because of the backlash they were getting from the fans.
“If the 49ers were listening to the fans at Ibrox, I thought that Russell [Martin] would have gone a lot sooner than he actually did. You can never guess what these owners are going to do.
“I think Daniel [Farke] has some credit in the bank, he’s got them out a tough Championship division, he’s started well, so I think he deserves a little bit more time.“
Farke destined for sack due to Leeds United fixture list
The Whites remain outside the relegation zone right now, but that is increasingly likely to change in the coming weeks.
Leeds are preparing to play host to Aston Villa next time around, with Unai Emery’s side one of the form sides in the entire division.
That will be followed by increasingly difficult fixtures against some of the best sides that the Premier League has to offer.
- 23 November – Leeds United vs Aston Villa
- 29 November – Manchester City vs Leeds United
- 3 December – Leeds United vs Chelsea
- 6 December – Leeds United vs Liverpool
With how the Yorkshire club are performing right now, it would be a miracle if a single win was picked up from these games.
This would contribute to a potential six-game winless streak, something which could end with Farke facing the sack at Elland Road.
