Ross McCormack hits out at EFL after what happened with Leeds United stars

Leeds United have the opportunity to conclude a memorable season by clinching the Championship title.

Daniel Farke’s men have already won promotion back to the Premier League, while a win over Bristol City on Monday would see the Whites sit top of the league with just one game remaining.

Leeds have impressed in the Championship this term, notching 89 goals in 44 outings so far, and will look to trouble the Robins’ defence at Elland Road.

After facing playoff chasers Bristol City on Monday (28 April), the Elland Road club then travel to all-but relegated Plymouth on the final day of the season on 3 May.

Ross McCormack was a successful striker for the Whites, scoring 58 goals in 157 outings from 2010-2014.

Meanwhile, the 38-year-old was disappointed to see Junior Firpo left out of the official Championship team of the year and wrote on his Instagram story [27 April]: “Who votes for this team of the year? Where is Junior Firpo?”

McCormack was also unimpressed to see Sheffield United’s Gus Hamer handed the second tier’s player of the year award over Leeds ace Dan James and Burnley shot-stopper James Trafford, as he then posted: “Hamer over Dan James and Trafford too.”

Leeds should be eager to clinch the Championship title

Before beating Middlesbrough 1-0 on 8 April, Farke’s men had endured a poor run in which they managed just one win in six Championship outings.

Leeds can beat Burnley to the title

So the Elland Road faithful will be grateful that the Whites managed to turn things around and have now won four games in a row to clinch their promotion to the Premier League after suffering playoff heartbreak last term.

But while winning promotion back to the top flight was Leeds’ primary aim, and something they have now achieved, the West Yorkshire giants should now be determined to win the Championship title.

Beating Burnley to silverware would boost the Whites’ confidence ahead of a potentially tricky campaign in the Premier League next season.

Furthermore, when Leeds last won the Championship title in 2020, supporters were not able to celebrate the feat courtesy of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Farke’s men should be keen to conclude a memorable season on yet another positive note by winning the title.
