Daniel Farke ‘disappointed’ as Leeds United players let him down despite win v QPR

Daniel Farke would have been “disappointed” by Leeds United winning only 1-0 against QPR on Wednesday night, according to Ross McCormack.

Crysencio Summerville’s ninth-minute goal was all it took for the Whites to return to winning ways at Elland Road after their stinging defeat at Southampton last time out.

However, Leeds dominated against QPR and stats by BBC Sport show the Yorkshire club had 65 per cent possession and 16 shots at goal throughout the game.

QPR offered very little and ex-Leeds striker McCormack believes his former club should have won more convincingly against the struggling London club.

“There’s been no threat whatsoever from QPR,” McCormack told BBC Radio Leeds on Wednesday night (4 October), as quoted on the BBC Sport website at 08:22pm.

“The only thing the Leeds manager will be disappointed in is that it’s only 1-0.

“They’ve had chances to add to the score and they could have been cruising.”

He’s right

QPR have been pretty horrendous this season.

As it stands, they’re 22nd in the Championship with just two wins in 10 games and they have conceded 16 times.

Leeds’ goalscoring record in the Championship this season is actually worse than Plymouth’s, who are in 16th place with only Preston (13) and Hull (14) scoring fewer goals in the top ten table than Leeds (15) currently.

Leicester, Ipswich, Preston, Sunderland, West Brom and Norwich are all free-scoring sides at the minute and if Leeds want to seriously be in the hunt for a top-two finish this term, they need to start bagging more.

It’s unbelievable that a side boasting the attacking talent of Leeds has struggled in this department.

Georginio Rutter has improved massively but he’s netted just twice in the Championship in 10 games with defender Pascal Struijk, who’s scored three times, scoring more than him.

Only Joel Piroe (four) has outscored Struijk in the Championship for Leeds so something needs to massively change in that area of the pitch because it’s looking as though the Whites can only score regularly through Piroe or through set-pieces, which makes them over-reliant on a small number of players.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay was blown away by this “excellent” player in the win over QPR.
