Robin Koch opens up about Leeds United future after Premier League survival

German defender Robin Koch has revealed that he has no intention of leaving Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old played a key role in the Whites’ keeping their place in the Premier League next season.

Speaking to Sport Bild, the Germany International revealed that he is super comfortable in the city and his journey is not over.

“I feel super comfortable in the city and at the club and have a contract here,” he said. “When I joined Leeds we had a project in mind, a journey that is not over for us as a team.

“My personal goal is also to be a strong team in the Premier League with Leeds and to have a more successful season overall with my teammates.

“Staying in the league is hugely important for all of us, but we know there’s a lot more to this team. We want to prove that next season and be in other regions of the table again.”

Football Insider reported on 5 April that Leeds are willing to listen to offers for Koch and are prepared to accept around £10million to £11million for him.

Important figure in Leeds colours

Koch has been one of the key figures in Leeds United’s defensive unit in the recently concluded campaign. He was one of the unsung heroes of the club’s final two games of the season.

The Germany international stepped up with a couple of brilliant displays at the right-back position in the final two games in the absence of Luke Ayling, who received a red card against Arsenal.

Those performances were good enough for him to be a serious contender to have a starting spot in the team’s playing XI come the start of the next campaign.

Koch, whose current contract with the club ends in the summer of 2024, joined Leeds from Bundesliga outfit SC Freiburg in the summer of 2020 in a deal worth £11.7 million.

Since then, the Kaiserslautern-born defender represented his current club in 38 matches in all competitions.

In the recently concluded campaign, where Leeds suffered immensely in the defensive side, Koch played 21 matches, including 20 in the Premier League.
